There are many positive benefits of reading. Read WITH your child versus to your child. Make reading an interactive activity versus a passive one. You can take reading time to the next level by making it INTERACTIVE!

HOW TO MAKE READING BOOKS AN INTERACTIVE PROCESS:
✅ Let your child TURN the pages in the book. (For very young children, help them turn the pages in the book by using hand over hand. )
✅FACE your child when you read with them, so they can see your facial expressions and mouth movements.
✅STOP and PAUSE at different points in the book to let your child fill in the blanks with a word, sound or gesture.
✅POINT to the pictures and encourage your child to point to them too.
✅ Let your child TOUCH the pages and open the pop-up flaps. (Use hand over hand as needed)
✅ Use different VOICES and PITCHES when reading.
